FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
Transportation
For your first appointment, you do not need a vehicle to transport your furniture. You can take a look around and tag your items. Tagged items are held for up to one week.

If you are coming back to pick up your furniture, you must have a vehicle ready to transport your items home.
​
Appointments with same-day pick-ups are allowed and preferred.
Safety & Attire
For your safety, please wear closed toe shoes!
Winter Visit Preparedness:

The warehouse has an uninsulated concrete floor and can be very cold.

Dress warmly in layers and wear winter boots.

Heat is used but limited due to operational costs.

The garage door opens frequently, causing sudden temperature drops.

Summer Visit Preparedness:

The warehouse can become warm and stuffy.
-
We recommend hydrating before your arrival and dressing for warm temperatures.

While we run air conditioning, it is not industrial-strength.
-
Operational use of the large garage door allows cool air to escape, so temperatures can fluctuate.

Measurements
Make sure to bring measurements for your living space so you can find furniture that fits. Write down the measurements of your selected furniture pieces to double check after your visit.

We have measuring tape at our warehouse if needed.
Assistance
Furniture can be heavy! Our volunteers are not always capable of moving or lifting furniture.
Make sure you have friends or family that can help load and unload your items.

How to Get to
Open Door Exchange
Our warehouse is located at 200 Wilson Street, Building G, Port Jefferson Station.
To reach our warehouse, drive into the parking lot for the Port Jefferson Business Center and continue around to the back side of the complex by passing Backstage Studio of Dance and Bond Audio. Our warehouse is a stand-alone building at the very back of the business center.
