Upcoming Fundraisers

Join us for the 2nd Annual Glass Pumpkin Patch from September 5-7, 2025
WHAT'S A GLASS PUMPKIN PATCH?
It’s a festive fall event featuring hundreds of handblown glass pumpkins by award-winning artist Gregory Tomb. His work has been showcased around the country to benefit causes like Make-A-Wish. Hosted on the Village Green during Culper Spy Weekend, it will draw thousands of visitors to explore historic sites tied to the Revolutionary War. The Village Green is surrounded by three historic landmarks.

HOW DOES THIS HELP?
The Glass Pumpkin Patch offers a vibrant display of one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins available for purchase, with proceeds directly supporting Open Door Exchange’s mission: furnishing homes and restoring dignity for individuals and families in need. Since 2015, ODE has distributed more than 13,500 pieces of furniture to over 2,000 households completely free of charge, diverting over 1 million pounds of furniture from our landfills.

Furniture is more than just stuff… it’s stability, it’s dignity, it’s a fresh start. Events like this help to spread the word through art about what we do and why it matters. Many people still don’t know that a furniture bank exists on Long Island. We need to change that.

Open Door Exchange is a small grassroots initiative working to raise public awareness about its unique services through this creative community fundraiser. Just like a food bank, but for furniture, ODE collects gently used dressers, tables, and more, and connects them with Long Islanders recovering from crisis, including survivors of domestic violence, veterans, the disabled, and single parents.

WHEN'S THE EVENT?
The event will be open to the public at the following times:
-
Friday, September 5
-
Saturday, September 6
-
Sunday, September 7
-
10:00AM - 5:00 PM
Admission is free, with live music, food trucks, tarot readings, and historic self-guided walking tours happening throughout the weekend. Gregory Tomb’s sought-after glasswork has been featured at top festivals and museums across the country, and his Glass Pumpkin Patches have raised funds for organizations including Make-A-Wish.

Holiday Mattress Drive
At Open Door Exchange, our most needed items are mattresses. Many of our families find themselves sleeping on the floor because they cannot afford a mattress. We strive to provide clean and comfortable mattresses so that no one ever has to lose a good night's sleep.

Each year, we hold our Annual Mattress Fundraiser in December to raise money to buy new mattresses. These mattresses are distributed to people in need throughout the year.

At end of 2024, we raised over $7,000 to purchase mattresses! Thank you so much for your generous donations.
