Outreach Operations Manager

The Outreach Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of two critical missions of Setauket Presbyterian Church: the Open Door Exchange (ODE) furniture program (25 hrs/wk) and the Wednesday night Soup Kitchen (5 hrs/wk).

This 30 hours per week position is for a contract term of one year, starting July 15, 2018, with review after three months and potential for renewal after one year.  Salary is $28,000 plus health insurance benefits. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact person for ODE and the Soup Kitchen
  • Respond to phone calls and emails for ODE and the Soup Kitchen
  • Schedule client appointments and furniture pick-ups for ODE
  • Schedule volunteers to cover weekday and Saturday hours at the ODE warehouse and Wednesday evening hours at the Soup Kitchen in Port Jefferson Station
  • Schedule volunteers to cook for the Soup Kitchen on Mondays at SPC and to pick up and drop off food and supplies during the week
  • Coordinate with volunteer groups from Stony Brook University, local secondary schools, faith communities, and community organizations
  • Work on site with volunteers at the ODE warehouse on Mondays and Wednesdays 10AM-12PM, and Fridays 1-3PM, and two Saturday Volunteer Days per month 9:00AM-12:00PM; office and Soup Kitchen hours are flexible
  • Maintain a database of:

  1. Clients
  2. Furniture Donors
  3. Financial Donors
  4. Social Service agencies
  5. Faith communities
  6. Volunteers
  7. Community Contacts
  8. Inventory

  • Assist with design of outreach materials & manage an online presence (Facebook, website updating)
  • Connect with local companies, organizations & non-profits to expand our reach to clients & donors
  • Attend all events to promote the organization to expand our reach to clients and donors
  • Assist with supervision of any interns
  • Attend monthly ODE Team Meetings, and Steering Committee meetings as scheduled
  • Assist with planning of fundraisers and research grant opportunities


Qualifications:

  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Office management and computer skills essential, including fluency with Excel
  • Ability and willingness to interact respectfully with a diversity of people in a variety of settings (clients, volunteers, community leaders, students, etc.)
  • Ability to attract, build, motivate, and support involvement in these outreach programs
  • Ability to comfortably lift 40-50 lbs
  • Experience in social work, human services, mission work, volunteering, or related area a plus
  • Spanish language competency strongly preferred
